I was adrift at that point in my life when I arrived in Australia. I was 24, had just finished university, and was working as a waitress in a small restaurant on Bondi Beach in Sydney. I kept asking myself: What’s next?

I spent a year in the land of kangaroos — a place that left a lasting impression on me. Even back then, nine years ago, environmental awareness was already highly developed: local, organic, vegan products everywhere.

I completely embraced the culture. I LOVED that country. Its respectful approach to the planet inspired me. 🌿

I was 20 meters underwater, scuba diving, when it hit me 💡 — the largest coral reef in the world was nearly 75% dead. Climate change was striking hard.

When I came back to Québec, an idea began to grow: what if I could inspire people to live more gently on the planet? 🌎

And that’s how Dérive ecobrand was born — a local, eco-responsible, committed brand designed to create a positive impact, one garment at a time.

“Dérive” refers first to the drift of waste that ends up on shorelines. I saw it during my travels around the world, especially in Honduras, on non-tourist beaches that aren’t cleaned. Waste from the mainland drifts to nearby islands, and you find everything: toothbrushes, shoes, plastic… It’s truly shocking to witness.

It’s not only a heartbreaking sight — it’s impossible to ignore. 🌍 That experience left a deep mark on me and inspired the name of the brand, as a reminder that every action counts in the fight against pollution.
