Déchets plastiques échoués sur une plage, pollution marine et impact environnemental

Our Story

I was personally adrift at that point in my life.

I was 24, had just graduated from university, and was working as a waitress at a small restaurant in Bondi Beach, Sydney.

And like many young people at that stage of life, I was simply wondering: What’s next?

I stayed in Australia for a year, and that country left a deep impression on me.

Nine years ago, I discovered an environmental awareness that was truly embedded in everyday life: local, organic, vegan products… a different way of consuming, with greater respect for the planet.

I completely immersed myself in that culture. I loved that country. And without knowing it yet, something had started to take root in me. 🌿

Then one day, I found myself 20 metres underwater, scuba diving.

And that’s when something clicked.

The largest coral reef system in the world was being severely impacted by climate change. Seeing this ecosystem with my own eyes made me realize that climate change wasn’t some distant reality.

It was right there in front of me. Beneath my feet.

So I returned to Quebec with that realization in mind.

I started brainstorming with a friend: if I were to launch a project, what would I want to create?

One thing was certain: I wanted it to be local and deeply rooted in sustainability.

And then, there was fashion.

I’ve always been interested in clothing. I would often find myself in stores, looking at a piece and thinking: “I would have done this differently.”

And eventually, I realized that textiles were also part of my story.

I come from a family that worked in the textile industry.

Suddenly, everything started to make sense.

Australia had shown me a different way of consuming.
My moment underwater had given me the desire to take action.
My interest in fashion gave me a creative playground.
And my family history naturally brought me back to textiles.

I put one and one together… and that’s where Dérive was born.

Dérive ecobrand is a local, sustainable, purpose-driven brand committed to creating a positive impact, one garment at a time.

Because, at its core, Dérive was born during a time when I myself was adrift.

And today, I’ve transformed that feeling of being adrift into direction. 🌎

Why I Chose the Name Dérive ecobrand?

“Dérive” refers first to the drift of waste that ends up on shorelines. I saw it during my travels around the world, especially in Honduras, on non-tourist beaches that aren’t cleaned. Waste from the mainland drifts to nearby islands, and you find everything: toothbrushes, shoes, plastic… It’s truly shocking to witness.

It’s not only a heartbreaking sight — it’s impossible to ignore. 🌍 That experience left a deep mark on me and inspired the name of the brand, as a reminder that every action counts in the fight against pollution.

Live with intention, dress with purpose.

At Dérive ecobrand, we believe clothing can be so much more than just an object. It can tell a story — your story. It can reflect your choices, your dreams, your values.

Our creations, carefully made in Québec, are designed for those days when you want to feel good. Not just well dressed — but good in your own skin, and good for the planet.

Because following fashion is good. But staying true to your values is even better.
